Vagamon, October 2026: A 28-year-old doctor from Uttar Pradesh was rescued after falling into a gorge estimated to be around 800 feet deep near a natural rock pool in Vagamon, Idukki district.

According to reports, the visitor fell while descending a steep and rocky trail near the popular natural attraction. Fire and Rescue Services personnel launched a rescue operation and successfully brought the injured doctor out of the gorge. The visitor was subsequently shifted for medical treatment.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the safety risks associated with exploring rugged terrain and steep slopes at hill tourism destinations. Visitors travelling to Vagamon’s natural attractions are advised to remain on safe paths, avoid slippery or unstable sections and exercise extra caution while moving across rocky terrain.

Vagamon, known for its rolling grasslands, hills and scenic viewpoints, attracts large numbers of tourists, particularly during holidays. The incident serves as a reminder that visitors should prioritise personal safety when exploring off-road locations and natural landscapes.
